Health & Physical Education
Health and Physical Education offers experiential learning, with a curriculum that is relevant, engaging, contemporary, physically active, enjoyable and developmentally appropriate.
In Health education students develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to support them to; be resilient, to develop a strong sense of self, to build and maintain positive relationships, to make health-enhancing decisions in relation to their health and to develop health literacy competencies in order to enhance their own and others health and well-being. In PE student develop skills and strategies in class to participate a large variety of sports. Students learn to display good sportsmanship and they enhance their leadership qualities through gameplay.
Students can study in the learning area from Year 7-12. General Health & Physical Education classes provide the foundation of the learning area. This is augmented by the school Sports Academy program where students can focus on Netball or Hockey in lower school. Year 11 and 12 students are able to study the following courses:
- Physical Education Studies ATAR
- Health Studies General
- Physical Education Studies General
- Certificate II Sport & Recreation
- Health, Physical & Outdoor Education – Foundation Course
The priority for H&PE will be to provide ongoing, developmentally appropriate opportunities for students to practise and apply the knowledge, understanding and skills necessary to maintain and enhance their own and others’ health and well-being.
